TV apps
TV apps for the big screen.
Streaming, content and companion apps for Apple TV, Android TV, Google TV, Amazon Fire TV, LG webOS and Samsung Tizen, designed for the sofa, the remote and the biggest screen in the house.
Platforms
Every major TV platform.
Each TV platform has its own store, rules and remote. We build for all of them: natively, from a shared React Native codebase, or with web technologies for LG and Samsung smart TVs.
| Platform | Built with | Published to |
|---|---|---|
| Apple TV | SwiftUI, or React Native for tvOS | App Store |
| Android TV & Google TV | Jetpack Compose for TV, or React Native | Google Play |
| Amazon Fire TV | Android, or React Native | Amazon Appstore |
| LG webOS | React and TypeScript web app | LG Content Store |
| Samsung Tizen | React and TypeScript web app | Samsung TV app store |
Designed for the remote
Ten feet away, one thumb.
A TV app isn't a stretched-out mobile app. People sit across the room and steer with a few buttons, so every screen is designed around focus, distance and simplicity.
- Focus navigation
- Clear, predictable movement with the D-pad, Siri Remote, LG Magic Remote and Samsung remotes.
- Readable at a distance
- Type, spacing and contrast tuned for the ten-foot view.
- Smooth playback
- Adaptive streaming, captions, audio tracks and resume where you left off.
- Easy sign-in
- Pair the TV with a short code or QR scan from a phone, no on-screen keyboard needed.
What we build
Apps worth the sofa.
TV apps rarely stand alone. We build them alongside the web and mobile apps your viewers already use.
- Streaming & catch-up
- On-demand video libraries with categories, search, watchlists and continue-watching.
- Live events & channels
- Live streams and scheduled programming with a clear guide.
- Fitness & education
- Classes and courses that work beautifully on a big screen.
- Subscriptions
- In-app purchases and subscriptions that sync with your web and mobile accounts.
- Companion apps
- Bring your existing mobile or web product to the living room.
- Content management
- A Laravel and Filament back office to publish and schedule what appears on every screen.
Questions
TV app questions.
Which TV platforms do you build for?
Apple TV, Android TV, Google TV, Amazon Fire TV, LG webOS and Samsung Tizen. We usually recommend starting with the platforms your audience already uses most.
Can one app run on both LG and Samsung TVs?
Largely, yes. LG webOS and Samsung Tizen both run web-based apps, so we build one React and TypeScript codebase and package it for each, with adjustments for each remote, player and store.
Can our TV app share code with our mobile app?
Yes. With React Native, much of the business logic and API code is shared between phone, tablet and TV, while each screen keeps an interface designed for its device.
How do people sign in on a TV?
We avoid on-screen keyboards wherever possible. Viewers pair the TV by entering a short code or scanning a QR code on their phone, then they are signed in.
Do you handle TV store submission?
Yes. We prepare the listings and assets for the App Store, Google Play, Amazon Appstore, LG Content Store and Samsung, and work through each review until the app is live.
Where does the content come from?
Usually a Laravel backend with a Filament admin panel, connected to your video hosting provider. If you already have a content system, we integrate with it.
